Pine and fir drop a load onto a roof every year, and it ends up packed in the gutters. Once they are full, water runs down the siding and sits against the foundation, and the needle mat on the roof holds moisture and embers both. We blow the roof clear, pull the gutters out by hand, flush the downspouts until you can see the water move, and clean up whatever landed on the ground.
